Designers rule.

Design is not about picking colours, which a lot of people think about design.

Mind Power

Design is influencing the way people think and behave

The touch screen became mainstream because of designers refining and making it useful.

Experience

"Fake it until you make it." - Prototyping is the key to conveying your ideas.

1991: The best way to predict the future is to invent it.

Design a device that you can see or want to see, and don't see technology as a barrier.

Taking things that you have now, imagining what it could be like in a few generations

1994: The future of music

"Groove Merchant"
  • Music downoading online
  • Too ahead of its time - a prediction of what's to come.
  • First video that many people saw on computer screens
  • Shaping music industries and the internet
2000: The future of location
  • Approached by many companies because the technology was beginning to become mainstream.
  • Technology often takes a while to become main stream - for example - ApplePay still hasn't become mainstream and has been idealised for a while now. Also CafeNet (cafe client music system) was designed in the early 2000s and is only now being implemented with Starbucks and Spotify
2003: Future of media

To people accounting is:
  • Boring
  • Tedious
  • Painful
Xero made it
  • Sexy
  • Fun
  • Addictive
Prototyping
  • Should not be building in any way, it should focus on the  design and the workings on the design
  • It should be fake, a theory, a fantasy
Journey
  • Improving the journey for people.
  • Finding a way to get the same result in a more enjoyable way

Beautiful is about a joyful experience, makes you feel happy afterwards

Final words:
  • Love your work
  • Dream shit up
  • Make shit happen
  • Invent the future
