List of WCL resources

Wellington City Library has an extensive range of resources and services including:
  • Wide range of non-fiction and fiction books; children, young adult, and adult.
  • CDs, DVDs, Audiobooks
  • Magazine and zine library
  • Access to a wide range of premium databases. eMagazines through Zinio. Newspapers through Pressdisplay. 
  • eBook and audiobook access through OverDrive and BorrowBox
  • Music scores to issue and free music practise room.
  • Legal resources; such as legislative publications, New Zealand law books, law journals, law reports.
  • Statistics New Zealand publications
  • Maps, heritage photographs, resource consents, WCC material
  • Business directories 
  • Records and indexes; such as NZ Official Record Indexes (births, deaths, and marriages), NZ Cemetery Records, NZ electoral rolls, NZ historical directories, Shipping arrivals, Whakapapa and iwi histories, Passenger lists, death notices, Newspapers from 1865 onwards.
  • Interloans from other libraries
  • Home delivery ($5 in Wellington)
  • Housebound service, delivers selection of books/audiobooks at six weekly intervals, this is free for people who are permanently housebound. 
  • Free wifi access. Computers with free internet to access New Zealand websites, selected information sites, library database. Computers with internet access for hire. Printing, photocopying, scanning and faxing. 
  • WCC has large print collections at all sites and magnifying glasses at Johnsonville and Central.
  • Smartview, ZoomText, ScannR, Video Relay are technologies available at WCL Central for people with sensory disabilities.  
  • Mezzanine Quiet Room; can be used for quiet time, such as prayer or meditation.
  • Meeting rooms that can accommodate up to six people (cost $10 per hour)
  • Clark’s Cafe and Citizens Advice Bureau are in the WCL building but are not part of WCL.
