Massey Library Spatial Critique - Photos

Photos taken from the Massey University Library to be used with the Critique Notes

Single entrance and exit

Straight away after entering you are met by a large corridor so you do not feel rushed to make a decision on where to go. The pillars are used to divide the space into sections

Private rooms are easy to find where as we found none at the City library

Stairs to the books. Sadly this is the only signage pointing towards the books so having a directory at the door would be good

Pillars are seen upstairs as well but also using colour to divide the space to intended sections. Green is used for more relaxed seating and most likely reading, where as orange is for printing and cutting.

Large corridors are seen quite a lot. This one goes all the way across the library to make a form of highway to get places quickly. This wouldn't work if all the selves were not set to a grid

Magazine section which is off to the side of the main library. This is a very quiet space which also features single person desks for proper studying
